NAVSO AWARDED GRANTS FROM DELOITTE

NAVSO
Resources Will Improve Veteran Employee Hiring and Retention in Professional Careers

Arlington, VA – August 9, 2017 – The National Association of Veteran-Serving Organizations (NAVSO) is awarded grants totaling $45,000 by Deloitte & Touche LLP to support NAVSO’s focus on improving veteran employment outcomes.

NAVSO helps veteran serving organizations, their government agency counterparts, funders and businesses that are actively seeking veterans as workforce talent. While many nonprofits and corporations have made inroads in issues facing veteran employment and retention, far too many organizations are working towards goals without established and evidence-based best practices to fill important gaps. This often disjointed and uninformed approach leads to disconnected services, making it unnecessarily difficult – if not impossible - for veterans in need to navigate the services and resources they need.

NAVSO fills this void by acting as a central organization to help employers and providers across the veteran services landscape to coordinate, collaborate and stay informed concerning evolving needs and leading practices. NAVSO does this by bringing veteran-service organizations together in a national virtual network consisting of more than 2,000 organizations and more than 20,000 participants for easy collaboration and coordination.

“NAVSO has been such an amazing partner for Deloitte’s efforts to build and support a community of companies focused on placing veterans in professional careers,” said Marc Mancher, Principal in Deloitte Consulting. “I view NAVSO as the clearinghouse of nonprofits serving veterans. Coupled with their deep relationships with companies focused on veteran employment, NAVSO brings great resources and perspectives valuable to companies seeking to start or improve their veteran employment program."

“We’ve spent much of the last two years closely working with Fortune 500 companies and nonprofits, listening to the challenges experienced in developing and sustaining veteran employment programs,” said Chris Ford, Founder and CEO of NAVSO. “Despite the remarkable gains made by hundreds of companies in America, far too many employers continue to struggle to build or improve their employment program simply because they don’t know what other companies are already doing successfully that can serve as an exportable best practice. This gap forces businesses to re-invent solutions and slows meaningful progress towards meeting business hiring and retention goals. Our work with Deloitte and this growing community of companies will be a significant step towards solving that problem.”
